Roger's Magazine

„If, through this magazine, I reawaken an old, forgotten dream in someone, then of course I am very pleased.“

It has always been my dream to be able to tell my stories with pictures and text.

It has been a wish of mine for quite some time to be able to tell my climbing stories and share the many pictures of them in a paper-based format. I’m really into climbing magazines and I keep the ones that I think are nice and that inspire me. That was the spark for the idea to make this magazine.

The second edition: Passion Eiger

The humble professional alpinist takes us with him to “his” wall.  His entire focus is on this wall. His creativity and life force are in this wall. It’s where he goes above and beyond his capabilities. It’s where he experiences moments of deep friendship, philosophy, and spirituality. “The further up you climb the less space your everyday life takes up. It’s just the wall and me up there. We become one...“ is what he writes in his personal narration.

«Passion Eiger» is an EXTRA-versatile magazine directed at ambitious alpinists as well as a non-climbing crowd. Roger Schäli presents exciting and informative reports about his experiences and gives leads for mountaineers as well as insights into life on the wall for non-climbers. «Passion Eiger» is enhanced with EXTRA, with augmented reality, by the Entlebucher Media House: videos and picture galleries can be accesses with the EXTRA-App.

Schäli has summited the Eiger via the north face over 50 times. He’s followed established lines and set up new routes in the face. His main goal is to redpoint his projects, which means to climb them without the help of technical aides, without holding on to bolts, without falling into the rope.

An 80-page augmented reality EXTRA-Magazine that comes to life with the EXTRA-App.

The first edition: Live your climbing dream

An 80-page magazine that give readers a glimpse into adventures that I have experienced and my way of climbing. I tell about my adventures on the Eiger, my home mountain, in South Tyrol, the United States, in Patagonia, the Himalaya, in South Africa and many more. I share my passion and my experiences with pictures, my own written words, and additional information about the different tours and countries. It’s not always easy to make dreams come true. Often times it’s a long journey. It takes courage, patience, good preparation, and sometimes several tries. But it’s always worth it.
