DonnafugataTorre Trieste 8a (obblig. 7a+)
On five consecutive fine weather days in July, Roger Schäli, extreme climber and mountain guide from Interlaken, and I reached the second ledge. Not a vacation in the mountains, no! A battle with a steep, overhanging, often brittle wall, with the heavy bag of equipment, but at some point also against fatigue.
Our relentlessness had paid off! In the upper third, the rock proved to be compact, dark gray, simply bombastic. On August 22 and 23, my rope partner was Simon Gietl, a young, promising climber from the Puster Valley, who was now getting a taste of Civetta for the first time. We got five pitches further.
On September 8 Roger and I set off for the finale. After the ascent via the normal route and another five pitches in new terrain, we reached the summit.
The result of the intensive eight days is a highly challenging, varied route, definitely a treat for masters of the trade! A redpoint ascent is still pending, our rating is 7a/A2.
