North 6
„This was probably my most amazing experience as a mountaineer“
This extensive project lasted 18 days. Roger takes the audience on a visually stunning journey to the 6 great north faces of the Alps and lets them experience his adventures.
Roger Schäli and Simon Gietl climbed the six big north faces in the Alps in only 18 days with their NORTH6 Pproject. They biked from one wall to the next. They started on September 17th, 2021, in Italy by climbing the Comici Führe (7) in the Cima Grande. They climbed the 500m face in only three hours. Their second climb was Piz Badile in Bergell three days later. It took them three hours again to climb the 600m Cassin Route (6). Their bikes brought them to the north face of the Eiger on September 13th, 2021. They climbed the wall via the route Chant du Cygne (7a). Their next goal was the classic Schmid Führe (80°, WI4+, M4, 1.200m) in the north face of the Matterhorn. They fought 12 hours through bad weather to reach their goal. Roger claimed this ascent was “borderline.” Fresh snow was their constant companion in the French Dru which they attempted via the Allain Route. They had to move to the classic North Couloir (AI 6+, M8, 900m) due to bad weather. They were on the mountain for 17 hours. The two climbers were able to finish their project with climbing Grandes Jorasses on September 24th, 2021 by ascending vis the Linceuil direct (70-90°, WI5-6+, 1.100m).
The project took them 18 days, one of them a rest day and three days of taking a break due to bad weather. In sum they left 30.770 meters elevation during their ascents behind them and 29.470 meters elevation during their descents on foot, bike, and with paragliders.
